ATTENDANCE
Holywell School is committed to the continuous raising of achievement of all our pupils. Regular and punctual attendance at school or alternative education provision is both a legal requirement and is essential for pupils to maximise their educational opportunities.
One of our basic principles is to celebrate success. Good attendance is fundamental to a successful and fulfilling school experience. We actively promote 100% attendance for all our pupils and we use a variety of weekly, termly and annual awards to promote good attendance and punctuality.
The Governors, Head Teacher and staff in partnership with parents have a duty to promote full attendance at Holywell School and ensure this is rigorously monitored. Therefore, any attendance which falls below our expectation will require a medical certificate as evidence of absence.
LATE ARRIVAL
If you are aware that you may be late or if you find yourself running late, please let the office know as soon as possible so that we can ensure that we know to make arrangements for lunch for your child.
ABSENCE
If your child is going to be absent from school for any reason you must let us know. We will then be able to make any necessary arrangements that your child may need upon their return.
In cases of sickness, please be aware that your child must not return until 48 hours after their last episode. This is to ensure that the sickness bug is cleared before returning to school.
In cases of absence due to appointments, please let the office know with any documents you have showing the appointment.
In cases of holidays, the school will only authorise in exceptional circumstances. We strongly discourage holidays in term time and these requests are considered on a case-by-case basis.
Please note: We operate a 'first day calling' system when children are absent from school. If we have not had contact from a parent and we are unable to contact by telephone, the absence will be recorded as unauthorised.
